Hello 2014!!!

Yes, it's almost here, the year 2014!! Each year seems to go by faster than the last.
Seems we all work on so many holiday projects, that by the time the New Year comes, we sorta skip right over cards for this holiday. I did a couple this year. Here is my first one, a center step card with Baby New Year celebrating center stage.
This made the card very easy to put together. I found some fun digital papers online, so I filled the shapes, printed and cut. The hardest part of this card was making sure to have the year right! Yes, I had cut and pasted 2013. Good thing it's easy to cut and glue new numbers.

I paper pieced that little guy and gave him a PKS face-- love those chubby cheeks.

Celebrate responsibly and safely.

Happy New Year!!

Brrr....it's cold outside!!

Seems I've been saying that the whole month of December. I hope the new year has better weather in store for us. Here in MN it's not going to get much above zero this week.

I got a few crafting goodies from my son for Christmas this year. One of them being the snowflake border metal die from My Craft Spot. It's so pretty.
I decided to use this cute snowman from the Cricut cart, Snow Folks. I need to show my bug some love now and then. Can't let the Cameo have all the fun.
I cut the snowman at 3.75" and added him to the card with foam tape.  The sentiment is also from My Craft Spot. Perfect for my snowy friend on this card. I stamped it on a label using a couple metal dies from My Creative Time. I finished it off with a few sparkles of sequins and a couple mini buttons for his coat.

Hope you all are staying warm.

Have a crafty day!

A good morning for Monkey Bread.

I did another recipe page today. Made this recipe the other morning. So quick and easy. For as many times as I make this, I thought I better scrap it once and for all.
I used a cute die cut from SVG Cutting Files here.
I gave this little monkey a tail and a banana since I didn't think a monkey with an ipod was appropriate for the recipe page.

It's a nice quiet day to catch up and work on some projects in the craft room.

Holiday Food Fare- Rice Salad!

Hello friendly bloggers! One of the things I love about this time of year is all the wonderful food.

Over the weekend we celebrated Christmas with family and for dinner I made this rice salad. It's a wonderful recipe from an aunt and has become a favorite of mine.
I scrap many of my favorite recipes into 8x8 layouts. For this one, I used papers from the Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons Vintage Christmas packs. The cute little car with penguin is also from PPPR and is a freebie here this week. The snowflakes are from the Silhouette store.

Have a crafty day!

Ski you soon!

It's my design day over at Digi My World and the design team is playing with a new set of digital images being released this week.
This fun new set is called Winter Boys and is avialable now!  You can also get this set in digital clipart that is all colored up for you ready to print and put to use.

I love the rich colors of the dark reds, rich teals and browns together for winter cards. I colored my little ski guy on the cameo to match my paper color, then printed and cut him out.

I recently received a Secret Santa package from a fellow crafty blogger that was filled with these fun sequins ...the perfect touch on my card along with the sentiment which is from the BugBites Mistletoe stamp set.

You could win the entire Winter Boys set by just leaving a comment every day over at Digi My World One lucky comment will be selected.  The more you comment, the better your chances.

DCD Challenge- Happy Holidays!

Welcome back to another Die Cuttin' Diva's challenge. This week the theme is Happy Holidays. This weeks Challenge will run for two weeks. so you have plenty of time to link up those holiday projects.
I finished up and mailed my Christmas cards today. I love birds and especially cardinals this time of year. They are so pretty. So I just had to use this cardinal cut file from Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons for a holiday card.

I started with a background mat filled with a digital paper, also from Pretty Paper, Pretty ribbons and then layered a shape on top I found in the Silhouette store.

Next I added the cut file and printed.  From t here, I cut out out the bird, parts of the leaves and some of the berries and added them on top. Because I was making several of these cards, I didn't have time to cut and piece all the parts. So this was a nice alternative. It still gives me the 3D feel that I love about cut files, but cut down on my time so I could get some baking and holiday shopping done.
I did the same on the inside, just didn't add the bird to it.

I finished it off with some stickles accents on the berries and some doodles with my white pen. The sentiment is from My Creative Time.

Be sure to stop by the Die Cuttin' Diva's blog this week to see the wonderful DT inspiration projects. I cant wait to see what you link up.

Last minute stocking stuffer idea!

Hi Everyone!  There is a new challenge at SVG Cutting Files, the theme is anything Christmas/Winter. Project must include a a file from SVG Cutting Files.
Be sure to link your project at the blog or Facebook Galleria Group by January 14. The winner will receive a $10 gift certificate to the store.
If you are looking for a quick last minute gift idea or stocking stuffer, I hope this might help you out.  A nice bottle of scented soap and a pretty tag is all you need.
I started with a tag base using the Jaded Blossom tag die. I typed the sentiment on my computer, printed it on the card stock and then used the second die to cut it out being careful to position the sentiment on the side.

The snowman is a file from the SVG Cutting files store here. It is one of 3 in the set. A real bargain in my opinion. I added a shadow layer behind him and then added foam tape to pop the snowman up a bit.  A little twine and some gems completed my little tag. I tied the tags around some hand soap I got at the craft store for $1 a bottle.

I gave these little holiday treats to my friends I bake holiday cookies with each year.

Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to seeing your holiday themed projects.

Die Cuttin' Diva Tag Challenge

Welcome back to another Die Cuttin' Diva's challenge. This week we have a tag challenge for you.

I love baking this time of year and sharing goodies with friends and neighbors.
For my project I used an svg file from SVG Cutting Files called Gingers and layered it on top of a tag using the tag die from Jaded Blossom.
The subway art style background is a stamp also from Jaded Blosson.
Some stickles and a red ribbon and I am ready to attach this to a bag of Christmas Treats.

Be sure to stop by the Die Cuttin' Diva's blog this week to see the wonderful DT inspiration projects. I cant wait to see what you link up.

How about some elf treats!

Happy Friday. It's my design  day over at SVG Cutting Files and I get to reveal a couple new files released just today, Elf Toppers.
These elf toppers are sized perfectly to fit the clear gusset bags from Jaded Blossom but will work with any treat bag.

This one is so cute with all the jingle bells. I think of the color of an elf outfit or the top of his boat.
I used some stamps from the Jaded Blossom Merry and Bright stamp set to embellish it a bit.

Here is the second file. Clearly an elf or Santa hat.
Again, I used the same stamp set for the sentiment on this bag.
I filled both treat bags with a mix of popcorn, pretzels, Crispex cereal and candies all coated in white chocolate with a dash of colored sprinkles.

Hope I inspired you to make some elf treats.

Have a crafty day!

Snow Wonderful!

Hey everyone, it's my design day over at Digi My World and I have a little card to celebrate all the snow so many of us are seeing this week.
The cute digi I used is called Winter Blues. It is listed under the Winter category.
I actually used the clipart version of this digi stamp today. I am not always confident in my coloring skills nor do I have a ton of markers to make those wonderful color combos. But by using the clipart, it was all colored up nicely for me.
I brought the image into the Silhouette software and did a quick trace followed by making a shadow layer before printing and cutting it. I actually was able to get 6 of these on a 12x12 sheet of paper.

The card base is an svg file from SVG Cutting files.  Before cutting it, I added a little shape to the front so my treat would show through. I found the inspiration from a card Emma did over at My Creative Time a year ago.

I embellished it with some twine and a sentiment from My Craft Spot.

Have a crafty and snowy day!

You've Been Elfed!

Welcome back to another Die Cuttin' Diva's challenge. This week we have our monthly sketch challenge. Be sure to stop by the DCD blog to get the sketch and see the other DT inspiration projects. For my project I used an svg file from SVG Cutting Files called Little Elf. It paired perfectly with the sketch this week.
I added the perfect little sentiment from the Jaded Blossom Merry & Bright stamp set. I also added some red gems in the corner. But here's my secret, they were not red when I bought them. I saw a tip from Mary at CardzTV where you can buy clear crystals and then color them with a sharpie marker. It works perfectly. So now, I just buy clear crystals and use the markers in my drawer for any color gem I need.
This card would be perfect for your secret Santa gifts.
